Fans of the DIALOG-and-Bjarke Ingels-designed Telus Sky by Westbank will be happy to note the recent photo update on our Forum by Surrealplaces. Capturing the eye-catching 60-storey tower on a sunny summer's day in downtown Calgary, the most recent images highlight the size and scope of the project within the context of the ever-chaning core.
Viewed above, Telus Sky can be seen looming above Stephen Ave, its signature facade soon to become a fixture of the downtown skyline. Rapidly approaching its full, 222-metre height, the tower likely be topped off by the fall.
Approached from the rear, it is evident that a good deal of cladding work remains, Telus Sky's exposed vertebrae yet to receive its outer skin. To be finished via the installation of Douglas Coupland's "Northern Lights," the exterior will be graced with a 160,000 square-foot LED public art installation - the largest of its kind anywhere in the city.
Once complete, Telus Sky will be home to a mix of uses, the first 28 floors to become office space, while the top half of the tower will be comprised of 326 residential suites.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
