Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I'm not entirely sure but looks like a new office conversion project was announced at 606 4st sw. Another 166 rental units in the heart of down-town, extremely close to the c-train station of 4st WB Station along with the core itself. Extremely central location in all honesty and generally a pretty good place for some extra bodies in Downtown.
There have been some rumors about that one getting converted to residential for a while. Nice to see some movement on it.

Yet another Truman DP submitted in University District, this one for Block 28. Architect is Metafor. As is usual for Truman, not outstanding by any means but reliably decent.

Not sure if this was been seen before now, but cSPACE has shown off some renderings of their downtown space.

The article mentions offhand the creation of a "new building next to bow tower to expand the vertical space of the site" which sounds exciting

I'd love a +15 Connection from Andrew Davidson to this and on to Bow. It would complete the +15 connection throughout all of downtown.

On that...

I really hope those renderings are of a very early feasibility level design. It looks very boring right now and while I know cspace doesn't have oodles of money, this site and program is asking for something pretty spectacular

"while the construction of Fireworks would be years off"

It is the shaking the cup level design. Going into the 2027-2037 funding cycle. Class C is what I've seen used.

Another new project in University District, on Block 11: DP2025-02541

It's a new builder in the neighborhood, Luxuria. Architect is Gravity. It looks to be attached to the wrong property on DMap right now.

This one is where the Varsity apartments used to be. Were there commitment from UCPG to have affordable family units for students with families? I'm typically not a fan of public housing, because we have drug and mental health issues where we can't possibly implement a Singapore style public housing scheme. However, by universities where it caters to students is where it works really well. Many post-grads really don't have much income and typical dorm style university residences don't work for students with families.

This seems to mention replacing signs in buildings? I'm assuming the ones with different background for different directions? Odd the story doesn't have any pictures of the new design.
I've seen the new signs in City buildings, it was one of those, "I think that's different but maybe it was always like that?" moments. Reading this confirms that they are different. They're the same design as the graphic I included. Next week when I'm in the office, I'll grab some shots of the new signs.
