Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

This should brighten up everyone's mood on this chilly gloomy Friday...Library Sq North, with an eventual second phase mirroring on the south side of the street. I'm a big fan - I think this is perfect scale for this part of EV and I love the red brick - and it's just nice to see an application in East Village for the first time in quite a while. I feel like it gives off a bit of a "pioneer square" vibe. Architect is LOLA.

Great example on how you don't always need towers, even in really central locations, to get a good boost in density and a huge upgrade to the community's urban form.

Also - just put bricks on everything. I think about 50% of people complaining about development are really just saying they want boring but classy, traditional bricks.

East Village finally going University District in scale. Between this and what is along the river, that's what seems to move in the East Village. The one north of Bell is coming though. I think these guys also have the lot that is the basketball court?

Honestly, if the quality is there (like in this project and much of University District) I'd be fine with most of the rest of EV building out with 6 storey wood frame. LoDo in Denver is mostly lowrise/midrise and has been very successful. I guess it will come down to the economics.

Not sure re: the basketball court

I know there are a few members who are in the North Central area. Looks to be a significant upgrade to the Mount Pleasant community centre. Another Lola project

The site of the temporary Bounce Games Park has also been conditionally sold to another developer partner, and we anticipate having more details in early 2025.
It's a shame if the bounce park gets developed before some of the other empty lots. The Bounce park is one of the cool things in EV.

I honestly didn't realize it was temporary. Guess it makes sense given the site it's on. Certainly hope something like it is built elsewhere nearby
