It does have Connaught school, which they renovated probably 10 years ago.

As for pools, does anyone know what the plans are for the old Beltline Gym? I think it's just sitting vacant right now.

And Connaught school has been overfull for a while now, with overflow previously going to a couple of other inner city schools, Earl Grey and Ramsay school - which are now full, so Wildwood is now the overflow school.

With even more developments on the horizon for DT/Beltline the board might want to look at building an annex to Connaught.

Has the CBE ever discussed working with developers to work schools into developments? I see the Trico plan in the East Village has a day care center in the plan for the land. I would think the land use for a school with commercial and residential built into it, or on the same area would be a great idea. Especially with so much play space or sports courts being built on top of buildings instead of needing large lots of grass to never be used.

In an ideal world, it'd be nice to see Connaught expanded into a larger K-6 school, and have a junior high school developed nearby in conjunction with a mixed use development on one of these empty lots.

MNP really isn't that convenient unless you own a car.

I'm not sure what you mean - it's < 10 minutes walk from Erlton station, and thanks to the two pedestrian bridges nearby at 1 St SW and 21 Ave SW, walking distance to lots of apartments in Mission and Beltline.

The walk from Erlton isn't bad, either. It's river pathways and IIRC no intersections with cars. That's how I used to get there when the building was called Repsol Talisman Lindsay Park.

You're right, it isn't terrible and there are the bridges in actual Lindsay Park that connect it to Mission and the Beltline. I do wonder how many people do walk or bike there...

As a proportion of the total amount of attendees that walk or bike? I have no idea. Even if that data was available, those numbers would be hard to parse into a meaningful analysis as it's huge aquatics program has a city-wide draw as well as the only pool in the immediate inner city.

But anecdotally as a nearby resident for a decade that walk or bike? Tons of people. I never met anyone who liked to go to MNP, lived in the east Beltline/Mission area, and drove there regularly.

Work is underway on this, they closed the sidewalk on the southside of the property. Between this and Hanover this little section of 6th Ave will feel very different in a couple years.

Hopefully the Grand Theatre can get something in their CRUs. I'd love to see the far left lane of 6th Ave turn into a sidewalk or... a bike lane!

Where is there grey in the rendering’s? All I see is original red everywhere

Looks like even the canopies that mimic the roofs are going to be flat

Though I am pleased to see them using the space on the south side more efficiently.

I really like this update! Think it will add a lot of vibrancy to street level and activate that stretch.
