Cool to see new development; sad to see that basketball court go. People have been actively using it every single time I've gone by.
Ya that basketball court is very well-used, I would hope to see it recaptured and improved upon in the Jeffries Park upgrade on the Ramsay side of the tracks. Maybe relocate somewhere here:Cool to see new development; sad to see that basketball court go. People have been actively using it every single time I've gone by.
Holy hyperbole Batman,
Supposedly it has received approval from the regional board. https://www.reminetwork.com/articles/the-omni-project-receives-development-approval/Has it received land use approval through the regional board? Does it need to get land use if the ASP (or a portion of it) has already been approved? Much of the growth in the NE (where there has been a LOT) is very underserved by retail, this project will probably be quite successful.
Oooff... expensive campaign for Jan Damery that did not translate to much success. This explains why the city would approve more developments on the edges of the city rather than encourage urban density...and of course turn downtown into affordable housing projects.
Gondek received donations from 51 businesses, including more than a dozen real-estate development companies
Yes, a portion of the ASP got approval back in 2019 after a very extensive hearing where the City was very opposed to it. The City kind of won in some ways, freezing the vast majority of the ASP, however the board seemed to throw a bone to Genesis/The County by allowing the core commercial development to proceed (from a policy perspective). That portion would still need approval of its Conceptual Scheme and land use, and I am not sure if that process has to go through the regional board as well, or just the County Council. Given what happened with Ascension, I feel like it does. That said, it will be difficult to say no now that the interchange is funded, but we will see how Gondek/The City reacts, given their veto power.Supposedly it has received approval from the regional board. https://www.reminetwork.com/articles/the-omni-project-receives-development-approval/
Needed a lot more money to turn the base spending into something. And the Gondek campaign did a good job of keeping the lid on it. Kent Hehr helped them do that.Oooff... expensive campaign for Jan Damery that did not translate to much success.
Her timing was unfortunate. If had waited until the next election it would probably have been much different.Oooff... expensive campaign for Jan Damery that did not translate to much success.
