Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

The Provincial budget released yesterday includes the following:

Deerfoot Trail, Calgary’s busiest highway corridor, will receive $266 million over three years for upgrades and improvements

Is this just to complete the current work happening ?
If it’s in addition to I hope they use the bulk of it to correctly complete the Deerfoot - Glenmore interchange with a new SB bridge over Glenmore and the NB to WB flyover.

What gives me hope is they say “over the next three years” and I can’t see the current work taking more than a year to complete.🤞🏼

The budget docs have 168 and 98 million over the next two years and nothing after that. So unfortunately seems like it’s just finishing what’s ongoing.

I don't think it is funded yet. I believe the City's real estate arm paid to have the functional planning study completed as part of their Constellation industrial subdivision. Now what is needed is funding to do detailed design and construction. It will likely be on the ask list for the next budget in November, but until Council approves that, nothing is certain.
