The only work complete with Barron Building is that perhaps the interior was completed gutted. Other than that it continues to sit derelict.

So far, Calgary’s funding has been allocated to eight projects — five of which are currently under construction with three conditionally approved but unannounced by the city. The remaining $27 million is still up for grabs, according to Calgary’s downtown development and strategy manager, Natalie Marchut.
“Through that reopening for the remaining funds we received another nine applications to the program that are all under review at the moment, and the remaining $27 million will be allocated to the successful candidates of that round of submissions,” she said.
Could you imagine a total of 17 conversions underway. Wonder if they end up finding the money for all of these. If the shoe fits, wear it.

For the conversion of Teck Place at 205 9 AV SE, the application was approved on September 09, 2022. No appeal was submitted. I know in the previous post I made the city includes this as 'under construction' but its not. So maybe we start to see some action on this in the new year?

The statement made in the magazine is a little misleading. If you are not from Calgary, one might think when reading this that one out of 3 buildings sits vacant. What they mean to say is 'almost one third of total office space is vacant'.

Plus I read right here on this forum that it's more like 25% vacancy now, due to a combination of positive business growth and negative office space growth (conversions, no new builds).

Hopefully they open up the bottom floor to retail. The current building has an extremely sterile street presence.
