General Construction Updates

Well, another big one applied for in the Beltline, including a grocery store:

One Properties moving forward with their 12th Avenue project it seems:
http://oneproperties.com/12th-avenue-residential/

I think this is the 5th major DP for the beltline in 2017, with Hines at 4th/12th, Cidex at the Elbow River, Cressey at 12th Ave and 11th Street, Grovesnor at 17th Ave and 4th, and now this one. What recession, right? Well, maybe we shouldn't count our chickens before they hatch (get built), but it sure is nice to see.

I think it's only work on the intersection they are doing at the moment.
PCL is definitely going strong there right now. The entire parking lot has been fenced off. Professional Excavators are in their doing site prep. The work beside 16th ave seems to be utility tie ins. That was finishing up today.

Yeah, definitely work underway there. I was passing by yesterday, and there was what looked like prep work going on over the whole parcel.

Looks like the renderings have changed a bit from the original design, and for the better.

Man, you are on top of this stuff. That was applied for like two days ago. Really appreciate it.

They certainly have, but I don't have a lot of faith in their final product. The WAM on 10th buildings are a step down from their renderings, all of the high end touches got stripped out of the actual product.

Based on the Census, Beltline has grown on average by ~540 people per year, from 2003 until 2017. It is incredible growth.

Holy crap, that's like 8000 people! Amazing :)

A few pics a snapped recrntly from 19 street nw. One looks about to start construction, and the other is just about finished. Does anyone know what’s going into that location where the construction is starting?

Both are just finishing. The plan for the empty lot on the corner was Stonebriar Place with Analog Coffee. Architecture by Mckinley Burkart. Not sure when construction will start.

I love the new website the City created, developmentmap.calgary.ca. If you click it to the "list" function, it puts all of the applications in chronological order, which makes it easy. But ever since they included Stream 3 applications, you have to search a bit more as there are a lot of "sign" and "air-conditioning" style permits that you have to filter through.

Either way, that website makes it a lot easier to stay on top of things. Can't wait until DP drawings are electronic, and then hopefully linked to that website as well so we can see plans/renderings right away. I hear that is in the works, but may still be a while.
