General Construction Updates

A few random shots from my Sunday walk.

I was under impression that those frosted windows were there to stay, but apparently not:

I was actually hoping to be able to go across but one of the workers spotted me and sent me home. Next time :):

Beautiful shots!

I can hardly wait until the 12th street bridge opens up.

What a disappointment that zoo bridge is. Talk about building the cheapest thing possible...Also, when is the city going to remove all those rusted brown traffic/light standards throughout downtown? They look so hideous and decrepit. The entire downtown should be converted to new fancy stainless steel traffic standards. Something with a little flare and class. See the first pic from Da Master (the traffic signals in front of the old EnCana Place building...looks terrible).

I will take your stainless steel comment as sarcasm as the cost would be ridiculous. If they work, why change them? Money not well spent.

Stainless steel would Be very expensive, so I’m with you on that, I wish downtowns light standards were nicer, even if they were painted green or something like that it would be much nicer.

A nice matte black finish would be perfect for the light standards. As they are, I totally agree that they look hideous and completely classless.

Sorry I don’t mean legit stainless steel, I meant the current silver ones that they use throughout the entire city (whatever it is). They don’t appear to rust. I like the ones along 7th ave. Those or a black light standard would be awesome.

I would except any of the following colors for traffic light posts: dark green, black, or dark brown, or gray steel.

Wow, they really moved along on that zoo bridge, looks like the road part could open at any time now. I could've really used it last week with all the traffic snarls.

According to my friend who works in the Traffic department for the City - the powder coated (painted) light standards are also about 3 times more expensive than the otherwise "regular" ones they install. 16 AVE through Montgomery just got a bunch of navy blue ones put in as a part of the streetscape renovations.
