General Construction Updates

Oh yeah, so there is an insane amount of construction fencing all around West Eau Claire Park... so I'm pretty sure the West Eau Claire Park redevelopment is happening :D

Wildewood looks like any other high density suburban subdivision being developed on Canada. Nothing wrong with it. I can't get excited about it. I'm looking for one with increased urban form with an emphasis on the pedestrian.

Wyldewood looks good. It'll be good solid density infill.
So a pretty quiet CPC next week. About the only thing of interest (again, IMO, but I'd like to think I have a pretty good read for these things) is the land use redesignation for the Wyldewood Estates. The item starts on page 75 of the agenda:

More info on the project on the applicant's website:

BTW, thanks for posting these CPC meeting updates. It's much appreciated.

Any renderings of what the Eau Clair park is going to look like?!

Yeah dude, let me just scrounge through my old laptop for a bit. It's incredible, boardwalk over the Eau Claire Lagoon, Delta Garden at the end of the Peace Bridge, Sculpture Garden in one of the big green spaces. Just wicked.

View from a friend's apartment in the 5 ST Maple Project. Good view of 707 5 ST - Soon to be eclipsed by the Mariott ( :( ). Also Park Point, and can see the crane for the stalled 10 Ave building.

Does anyone know why they are keeping the helipad? What is it's planned use?

I don't know why, but I imagine it has something to do with the number of millionaires/billionaires that own or will own condos in the area.

for landing helicopters? There has to be a better location for it. It already killed the chance of a true Calatrava bridge.

I'm surprised there is even one flight a week at the downtown heliport. In all of my times down around Eau Claire, I've never once seen a helicopter use it.
