Not quite Calgary related, but does anyone know what is being built north of the Tsuut'ina rodeo grounds beside Highway 22 by Bragg Creek? Look like a bunch of multi-family housing or something..

Thought this was related to the Tsuut'ina question at first...

Nothing specific, and I did say "ah frick" when I read this: "The Government of Alberta administers the CCBF on behalf of the Government of Canada"

I hate that Calgary is essentially an arm of the Provincial government... I'm not sure why there cannot be exceptions made for direct funding for major cities.

Money is for "Investments in foundational infrastructure projects – like public transit, water systems, and local roads and bridges."

A lot project categories... "In 2025-26, Alberta will receive $276,195,088 to make strategic infrastructure investments across 19 project categories."

As I stated I don't trust the GOA and that municipal affairs minister. We'll see.

Is this for non indigenous people?

Interesting. Hope it's a success because something like this is desperately needed, this city is turning into a meth infested sewer. I'm sure the people of Redwood Meadows and Bragg Creek are less than stoked though...

This is an announcement of nothing. Every government does these "announcements". This is the same funding that happens every year, and used to be called the Gas Tax Fund. The feds, province and city have an agreement and we receive approx. $80M a year.

This is what it funded in 2024: (Obviously this totals more than $80M, but that's likely because projects like ACT are phased, so it was accepted in 2024, but the actual costs are over future years).

While I'm in favour of more aggressive enforcement/prevention on the front end, I think more of exactly this is needed for those who want help on the back end. Treatment centers out in the countryside, away from the temptation of the streets, where people can focus on recovery in a positive environment. Nature is healing, man.
