Bridge is officially gone. Next up is the ramp and the station itself. I have to say the new pedestrian crossings at 17th and 14th already make the station feel much more accessible. Beerfest was going on at BMO last night when I went buy and there was a bunch of people heading from 17th Ave across the tracks into BMO.
These are some clips from a CMLC stakeholder presentation on Sept 28th, great to see the timeline information of when things will be happening at Stampede park, specifically confirmation on the SAM centre stating this fall (confirmed on a later slide that i haven't clipped), and the timleine for the start of changes on Stampede trail/olympic way. It also looks like they have, at least for the time being, abandond the hotel site that was going to be in the BMO cnetre parking lot in favour of the one on the east side of the casino.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the CS tipi that is currently where 17th ave wil be extending through is being moved to Enmax park, the ground work has already started there for the support so the move will likely happen sometime in November.
I would rather a hotel be built on Olympic Ave as opposed to the BMO parking lot. Need to develop the Main Street first in order to get people into the area and activate the entertainment district ASAP. Surrounding lots can be developed over time but the Main Street is essential to getting this area off the ground.
Agreed! Let's just hope it's not another sterile tower that has poor ground-level interaction and massing. Something along the lines of the Curtis Block podium, with maybe a slightly further tower setback, would be ideal.
