I was going down 16th Ave., NW the other day, and I noticed that the lime green affordable housing project in behind the Tim Hortons is not aging very well.
I never had a problem with the lime green color but right now the panels look really sun bleached or something. It doesn’t look good. Whatever kind of material it is, it’s not ageing well.

Looking at that hodgepodge dumpster fire of facades is giving me anxiety :/

Homespace Society is developing a new assisted living facility on an empty lot in the downtown west end, at 933 5th Ave SW:

This is part of a large land sale by The City announced back in March:

It looks pretty good, especially for non-market housing.View attachment 148772

Excellent scale and location, soaking up a blank parcel that has been vacant forever in an accessible area. I like.

Wow HomeSpace has a big portfolio: http://www.homespace.org/our-portfolio/

Looks like they changed their name in the last 2 years, becoming more visible themselves instead of a service provider to other organizations.

They have two other new builds planned, bringing nice density increases (30 units) to what look like former 8 unit buildings, and single family home to 26 units. http://www.homespace.org/our-portfolio/new-construction/

I knew nothing about them, and now I think they are one of the better delivery organizations for housing like this.

They also have another 30 unit proposal for 14th street NW (Hillhurst) but it got a ton of flack at the community association meeting, so will be interesting to see if it goes through.
