General Construction Updates

Looks like Macleod Trail is getting another office building proposed for it. Probably a medical office, similar to what is under construction at 39th Ave, and proposed at the old Porsche location would be my guess:

This one is going where the log cabin sat for years, at the SW corner of Macleod and 43 Ave.

Calgary mentioned:

"From Istanbul to Calgary, cities around the world finished their own largest buildings."

"More skyscrapers were built in 2017 than during any other year in history, according to data released today by the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).
A total of 144 buildings measuring 200 meters (656 feet) or taller were completed in the world this year, up on 2016's record by more than 13%"

"Shenzhen was responsible for the highest number of new skyscrapers. Topping the CTBUH's list for the second consecutive year, the city saw the completion of 12 such buildings in 2017"

World skyscraper construction hits all-time high

I always like seeing our name in articles like this without them needing to add "Alberta" or "Canada". I feel like that alone is telling in that Calgary is known enough that the average reader doesn't scratch their head wondering where/who we are.

I feel the same.

Library has some colored lighting happening. More pics in the Library thread.

Nimbus has mentioned it last week.
It was discussed at the monthly Hillhurst Sunnyside planning meeting. No renderings or designs yet, but they (Graywood developments) want to build up to ~10 floors.
So the Royal Bank site in Kensington is in for a land use redesignation. One of the new mixed-use districts, FAR of 5, and a height of 32m is being asked for:

Wasn't this mentioned a few weeks ago?

Where did you find the FAR of 5? I can't find the maximum FAR within the proposed designation link. Just wondering because I appraised this property a couple years back and concluded the highest and best use as a future redevelopment site with an FAR of 5.0. Would like to see how this plays out. Loving what's happening in Kensington lately!
