Heh, I was trying to seem sophisticated (a clever ruse). It's a reference to a peice of classical Greek literature called Anabasis. An army of Greek mercenaries fighting for a would be king of Persia, were stranded in the desert and their leaders were all killed and they had to make their way home or perish in hostile territory. "The Sea! The Sea!" was their cry of relief upon finding the Black Sea becuase they knew that where there was water there were Greeks. So "A hole! A hole!" is my cry of relief.
