Trellis Affordable Housing Bowness | 18m | 5s | LOLA

This and the Hindle affordable project in the West End have better architecture than 90% of the market buildings in Calgary. Well done.

In August, construction fencing was erected around the site, but was otherwise left untouched (including the playground equipment). Fast forward to now, construction has started:

Bowness is really coming on these days. It’s nice little community.
It's a really solid area with good fundamentals - great park access, flat, rivers, easy access to the core and the NW employment hubs.

Bowness' main limitation like most of Calgary - that's slowly changing - is that it's such low density that it can't support a vibrant, walkable retail scene. It's got decent bones to work with, such as the existing main street, but just needs to triple the local population.

Was in Bowness a couple of times this summer. It reminds me of Marda Loop 15 years ago. All the tools are there, it only needs a bit more time.

Bowness has had a strong NIMBY pretense for years as well. That main street commercial strip should have been 4-6 story mixed-use but the community has fiercely fought anything over 2 stories.
