These rooftop dog relief areas tend to smell very bad after a year or two.
I find cleaning a litter box much worse than picking up dog poop, plus the smell in the house is gross. To each their own though...One of several reasons I'm a cat person...
Also don't really see the point. If you need to take the elevator already, why not just go outside? It's not like you won't need to clean your dog after using a relief area probably used hundreds of times between cleaning. These rooftop dog relief areas tend to smell very bad after a year or two.
There are tons of them. BLVD Bark, Pixel Park, Humpy Hollow Park, Connaught Park, Bowforth Park, EV dog park, and about half a dozen or more larger un-fenced parks just in the immediate vicinity of downtown/inner ring (McHugh Bluffs, Tom Campbell Hill, Roxboro Cliffs, Evamy Ridge, Scotsman Hill, Ramsay Park, Scarboro). Though I think they should add one in the SW corner of the Lougheed House grounds, as that would fill the gap in the centre of downtown. Tons of people use it as one already. The city could use a few more of these urban, fenced in dog parks. I know of the one in EV and UD. They're great for smaller dogs that can't really run around in a big off-leash area.
Village Ice Cream sells ice cream flavours for dogs which is kinda cool. There are tons of them. As a dog dad, I feel like Calgary is definitely the most dog friendly city in Canada, and probably one of the most in the world really. Even department stores (Winners, Simons, Canadian Tire etc) let them in, on top of every liquor store, most convenience stores, etc letting them in, and most have treats for them. Whenever friends from out of town come for walks with us they're shocked. On fourth street, a dentist and an Indian restaurant both put out free treats for the pups too, every day![]()
The idea is that it's a spot the dog can run around a little bit, almost like a mini dog park. If's gross though, a quick lap around the block is what most people will do.Also don't really see the point. If you need to take the elevator already, why not just go outside?
