Stampede Hotel | 45m | 12s | Truman | NORR

My mind's in a fog this morning. Is there a hotel portion proposed for Broadway?
I don't remember a hotel being in plan, but wouldn't be surprised it's added. Close to lots of amenities and walking distance to the Stampede/BMO. If I was going to a convention I'd much rather stay there than right on the grounds.

I agree. A hotel at what's arguably the Beltline's epicenter would be great.

We have a Best Western on 8th street and 14th ave SW. It'd be nice to a have another hotel or two in proximity of 17th ave and 4th street or 17th ave and 8th street. So many people stay in the CBD and think that's where Calgary's main hotspot is supposed to be.

In addition to a hotel, 17th is also directly missing a 1000-2500 person music and performance venue IMO. Something like the History venue in Toronto would be a nice size for 17th (venue images here and here). Being able to go to a show on 17th after having dinner, and then walking to your hotel just down the street, seems so logical and common sense it almost hurts to think about it.

Maybe the $300m includes future buildings. Ie Truman bought more land than just this and has other projects in the works
That price tag looks pretty impossible for the hotel alone. Found the below for 2023 and 2024 Canadian hotel transactions. These are purchase values, so there's no way Stampede hotel cost $300M or expected to be worth $300M. Even with inflation, Rimrock was only $170M and that location is pretty unmatched.

The overall price may include the cost of the $66.9 million land transfer between the city and the Stampede that also includes the land to the west and south of the new arena. Still though the cost is a bit high for what's been presented.
