The exterior design is mediocre at best. Nothing awe inspiring or unique about it. It feels rather clunky and cluttered with way too much going on. Honestly, #### all these metaphors that architects come up with. “The top represents a cauldron sitting on top of a glacier”. Good lord, just design a timeless, classy arena with quality materials.
The only impressive thing about the exterior is it has the most activated streetscape and pedestrian realm of any arena that I’ve seen. I can’t think of another arena with as many retail outlets fronting onto the street. A team store, three restaurants, and a food hall. No other NHL arena comes close. Rogers Place in Edmonton is the worst. Not a single ground level opening along the actual arena, as everyone is forced into that overhead bridge which connects to the plaza on the other side of the street! Their arena is very imposing and monolithic. Very hostile and not pedestrian friendly.

Speaking of Roger's Place. I've been to events there and the bathroom lines are horrendous so this seems a bit concerning....

The tweet is confused. The count in the Global link is of both toilets and urinals (485) which they erroneously state as being just toilets. The Calgary count is 340, which is of just toilets alone.

I just gave up counting toilets + urinals at 645 across the event level up to the upper concourse. That 340 number must be toilets only, and only in washrooms entered off publicly accessible areas. I'll count again some other time, just the stuff accessible to the public from the concourses, clubs, and suites this time. No washrooms accessible off the event level, staff areas, restaurants, or community rink.

Visualize those renderings in February, and it's kind of a dour picture. This thing is starting to give me post-reno Devonian Gardens atmosphere vibes.

That sign needs a Fire in front of the Place - maybe some public art can help with that. It's just screaming to be names the Scotia FirePlace I am afraid.
