When a crash like this occurs how long is service on the line sudpended for? I assume the rails would be damaged during a crash of this nature.

I guess with all the practice they've had, recoveries are fairly quick now. Service was back in a few hours.

Its not really the rails I'm worried about though, its only a matter of time before one of the collisions is bad enough to be classed a mass casualty incident..

Wildly irresponsible design that puts social engineering above safety.
 
If I think about the SE segment there are 5 at-grade train versus vehicle on road interactions... and those are all perpendicular interactions where they should be controlled by the arms, bells and whistles.

(1) 40th Street SE, just west of Shepard Station, there will be many more crossing on any south extensions.

Could be up to three at Douglas Glen... This alignment confuses me, are they not using the right of way? At this point I'm only counting 29th Street (2).

On the Green Line website, the line looks to go to along 114th Ave to 24th Street which would cross four parking lot entrances.

I think they're going under Ogden Road just after Lynwood/Millican but maybe not and I'm not sure how it is crossing 26th Ave at that station. The station is perched up on the hill so I assume they'll be going over 26th Ave.

How often is there an accident on the Valley Line? Can the city install crossing arms? I can't imagine it's too onerous to install them after the fact.

Douglas Glen will likely be 3. There's one on 107 Ave SE, one at 29 St SE, and then there's the bus only access that connects 27 St and 114 Ave which will be reconfigured as part of the bus loop changes but I think will remain open?

Ogden road is an overhead crossing though not under.
