Calgary Flames Official Thread

That road trip was something else... In the front of your mind they played some hard to watch hockey but in the back of your mind you know that's what's best.

What isn't good is the veterans signed to long-term deals are already hard to watch. Kadri looks like he attended the Huberdeau school of turnovers in the summer.

He just could never be "the guy", which is fine. Get him lower down your lineup in sheltered minutes and he can still be player. I think you need to move on though, like you said, hoping you can get a return but it is doubtful.

Wonder if the game tonight will be fight filled like it was Friday. The Gaudreaus are in the house and it will be an emotional night...

It was more of a fight to stay awake. This cannot be it for the Johnny Gaudreau legacy, I wish we heard a commitment from the flames that this is just the beginning. They tied a bow on this phase, announcing the initiatives coming out of the memorial, but I hope there's more.

As a hockey player John deserves more, a jersey retirement. As a person John deserves more, the community arena in the new event centre to be named after him and his brother. I sense there will be a time and place for that and this was a time for something else.

I'm holding out hope for a jersey retirement and renaming of 13th Avenue (within Stampede Park) on opening day of the new arena.

This is gross to think but is there anyway someone with power (not naming names) still doesn't like how he left the organization and stopped anything further at this point?

For the first time this season, that I can remember, the flames are out of a playoff spot. And in reality are only four points out of 23rd place in the league standings. The tank is on!

I'd also say the playoff teams in the west are set. Maybe Utah makes a trade and gets in there but I don't see anyone else in the west getting close.
