You guys need to remember that the developer drives a lot of this, Architects try to do something nice when possible, but developers drive the direction of the project as much or more than Architects do.

This is one of those times when I want the the city to push back on design when getting it approved. If this was being proposed in most other places in the city, I wouldn't care, but in the core of the city, especially along main corridors, I'd like to see the city push back when a developer cheaps out.

Pushback would be good, the design is definitely underwhelming. I assume this will go to UDRP and they will push for higher quality, not sure how much power they have to force a change.

From what I understand, not a lot. I think they need to have some semblance of a written down rule somewhere to cite when pushing against a design choice (can't just be "I don't like it, change it"), and unfortunately "don't make it look like shit" is not a rule that is written down anywhere afaik
