Thats something really odd that I've never really understood. A lot of Homes in Toronto, particularly in the neighbouring cities are covered with brick even before the housing boom, houses in Calgary choose cheaper material like Vinyl. Why is it so abundant in Toronto? Also I would like to say Brick siding on homes is amazing too look at, not so much on larger single buildings like low rises/midrises. It actually starts becoming quite an eye sore and outdated really quickly. There are only a handful of mid-rises recently that I can think of that look really good with brick. Kind of feels like an 80's throwback imo. Maybe its just the picture but I feel like if they went with a stronger bright white than this building would have turned out really sexy. The white looks really dull.

I've heard one of the issues with using brick in western provinces is a lack of skilled bricklayers. Plenty of them in Ontario, but few here. Might be a chicken and egg kind of situation!
