Calgary & Alberta Economy

Biden, Obama, Trudeau and the governments of BC and Quebec were greater threats to Alberta's economy than Trump
The Alberta government really didn't understand what they were doing when they brought a oil sands haul truck to the national mall, as part of the pitch to be seen as on the inside of the USA energy bill.

"UNITED STATES - JUNE 28, 2006: A massive construction truck from the energy-rich region of Alberta, Canada at the 2006 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. The festival opens on June 30th on the Mall. This year's themes include Alberta, Canada; Native basket traditions; New Orleans, and Chicago Latino culture."

Probably true. Both the industry and the Alberta government waited too long to push back against environmental activist overreach. It took too long, but at least eNGO are finally getting their just rewards: https://financialpost.com/pmn/busin...lion-greenpeace-verdict-means-for-us-activism

I only know the brand because I use to watch NASCAR growing up.
There's considerable doubt it'll go through. They're being acquired for $44 a share but the stock is only at $38. Parkland owns most Essos and Chevron/Ultramar/Pioneer/Fas Gas.

Sounds like this is a play to resist a shareholder takeover of the board. As the article explains.

I think I've seen those, but don't recall any here. I want to say the Chevron stations are relatively new here, they seem to have taken over a lot of the Husky / Mohawk stations in recent years.

Didn't we used to have Sunoco gas stations here? (I may be thinking of when I used to live in Ontario)
Suncor used Sunoco branding before they bought Petro Canada in 2010.

Husky sold their exploration business to Cenovus and retail ops to Parkland, hence the Chevron rebranding. And they have the Chevron brand after they bought Chevron's retail operations when they exited Canada a little earlier. Parkland owns Journie, and their stations are all the Journie rewards stations + Esso.
