Interested to see how the area will turn out afterwards. I live close by and that area (bc of chinook station) is horrible at the moment with the homeless, drug activity, theft etc. Also how about a proper walkable grocery store nearby with this happening?

I think it’ll help the area. CF isn’t the type of landlord to built something low rent, so the new buildings should add some good residents to the area. This could and probably will spur on more development to the area.
Is there a grocer in Chinook Centre or is that gone now?
Was there a grocer at one point?

Two at one pont:
-Woodward's Food Floor from the mall's opening in the early 60s. It was sold to Safeway in the mid 80s and closed in the early 90s. That section of the mall was demolished in the late 90s to build the theatre
-Super-Valu on west side of the mall extending into the parking lot from near where Boston Pizza is now. This was demolished around the late 80s

A replica of Arris 5th, complete with the superstore would be perfect for the area across from Chinook Centre.

Community Natural Foods is across the street. A bit pricy but it is technically a grocery store.

Yeah that is true. I was just hoping for something like a superstore like JWhite suggested. More affordable with a bigger variety of things. Wouldn't even have minded if Chinook itself built a grocery store in one of the huge vacant spaces like how Market Mall has Safeway (albeit pricier) for the folks nearby.
Definitely excited for the future of the area though. Been needing some development for awhile now.

I agree. I doubt it'll ever be a full on Metrotown or Brentwood, but it'll be a junior version of those places. Once a few more developments happen, it'll take off like a wildfire.
It's only a matter of when. It makes sense for the area evolve into some kind of midtown. An LRT station, the city's busiest mall, and access to Macleod or Glenmore, and somewhat centrally located in Calgary's south.
