2021 Federal Election

Yeah, not sure that 31.8% of the popular vote is a clear mandate....it's not even a 1/3 of the vote. To boot it's 3% less than the Conservatives.
It's 1.1% less than the conservatives. Not 3%.It's less than the last election's disparity, at any rate.

Either way, it's interesting to see 4 Alberta districts not blue.

No talk on Trudeau stepping down? About time in my opinion, curious who will replace him.

Maybe we make this thread a federal politics catch-all?
Past due, now we get to see if people's turn to PP was an anyone but Trudeau or if they're actually done with the Liberals. Too early to even capture that in polling.

I doubt PP is at risk of losing his lead but the chances are not zero. The opportunity the Liberals now have is that the leadership candidates can practice their election campaign before actually having an election campaign, they'll also be able to grab a lot headlines and drown out PP. Can they take advantage of the opportunity?

We're kind of off on an island here in Alberta as we're going blue no matter what, but if you can turn Quebec away from the Bloc and Ontario away from the Conservatives then you can start to see a path. Ontario is especially interesting since Doug Ford likely wants to have a provincial election before the federal election.

I think if it's Chrystia Freeland, people will still go PP, I feel like she is quite similar to JT. If it's someone like Mark Carney, the people worried about the economy may be happy with the Liberals again.

My guess is the conservatives win a minority whenever the election happens (early summer most likely), so the Liberals may have a revolving door of leaders for the next while.
