I voted 'other'. A lot of people voted BMO hotel, but we have the Stampede hotel, and the Truman Marriotts already. I hope it's something to do with the Bay building, that would be very awesome.

I only wish the towers were nicer, but I’m happy to see residential going in across from Chinook. And the buildings are managed by CF I don’t expect they’ll be slum towers either.

A trade off mostly. A nicer newer facade replaced by more expensive housing. Not that the pervious units were cheap, but these new ones are more expensive. That old pink stucco though… it needed to go. The new facade with larger windows will also look nicer at night.

A friend mentioned that his company is working on a high rise project for 8th street that he says is going to be starting construction sometime early in the new year. This is the only proposal I know of on 8th street, so we could be looking at another tower going.

Tbh, I would like the north facing views with the cbd as the backdrop.

The white looked great against the dark windows. Black cladding will be a whole lotta dark, but I’ll wait until I see the renders to form my opinion.

I came here to say the same thing @Albertasaurus. Between the office conversion fund and the building permit I’m 99.9% sure this is going ahead.

Great news. The design isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the density around the Chinook Station and mall is a win regardless.
