As has been stated, I think it could be to support roof truses.

I actually got the chance to sneak a peek into the construction timeline yesterday (with renderings for December, April/October of next year)

It's sort of like a crane base, but it'll support just a steel lattice structure that's just meant to hold up the roof until it can support its own weight
