Calgary Retail Thread

Liuyishou Hot Pot plans to open its first Calgary store in the Northwest.
I dig hot pot, so I'll have to check it out. I remember seeing one in Vancouver, wonder if the same outfit?

Speaking of hot pot, for the hot pot lovers here, what's your favorite. I've only been to 3 places so I'm not an expert, but for me my go to place is Happy Lamb.

My friend is from Chongqing, and her home-made hot pot is the best 🤣

Restaurant-wise, I have only been to Happy Lamb and Chine in Calgary, and I think both are good.

I tried the Liu Yishou in Ottawa (and in China), and it was pretty nice. However, it was a-la-carte rather than all-you-can-eat. I am not sure whether the quality will differ between the two models of services.

If you love hot pot, you can just buy the soup base from T&T (brands such as Happy Lamb and Hai Di Lao), and do it yourself at home. It's pretty easy.

Cobs on 17th Ave closed (though I'm not entirely shocked considering how they've been impacted by the ongoing construction in front of them), still a little sad.

There's a lot of competition in that intersection, with Butter Block and Black Sheep. I quite like Cobs and I know they bake all their stuff fresh in store but they have so many locations that it doesn't have the differentiation that's needed in the beltline
