Anyone know what these gigantic things are for? There are three installed in the NE corner of the site, and one still laying on the ground waiting to go in. All piles are in for shoring it appears.

There's no basement. Caissons are part of the foundation. Probably a raft slab too requiring some excavation and perimeter shoring.

Okay cool good to know! I just hadn’t noticed that before, but I was probably just not paying attention. The entrance must be a few steps up from street level, looks like virtually no setback from the sidewalk either.

There's a road widening setback on MacLeod, so this will probably be 6m to the property line.

Those caissons are sticking 1 to 2.5 feet out of the ground and are only maybe 2.5 meters from the street, generously.
