Looks like we're both correct. Truly hard to wrap your head around the scale and size, dwarfs the 'dome

If you have ever seen pictures of the old Boston garden next to the new, this will be that... newer is bigger. SFP will be even bigger than the new garden.

In place of the old garden there's now a faux old development

Granted its a rendering but this gives you a better idea of what's there now (maybe we get something like this as our "Grand Central" between Scotia Fire Place and East Village).

Bit of a lesser known example

Anybody know where the rodeo was held at this time? Could they open the track to what looks like a patch of dirt on the inside rail?

The infield is there in '97

But it seems to have been removed when they built the new Grand Stand between '72 and '75...

your second picture above is the old NW/SE orientated grandstand/track , the track/location changed afterward to the present north/south orientation. Stampede park hosted horesracing, so they just temporary cleared out a rodeo space with moveable grandstands

I doubt the Saddledome site will be developed like shown in future density renders too. The addition of more flat space to an already crowded Stampede Park is too much of a positive for them to allow development.

what a cool building
The dome is so cool, too bad about the cables in the roof.

I doubt it too, but it doesn't have to be. All the development should go north of the SFP. I'd like to see a Football/Soccer field that butts up against to the river pathway along the Elbow. Maybe even move Weadickville there as a destination at the end of 17th. Could be something like this:
