Really? It has a lot more definition. There's awnings and fins and colour that has been replaced by flat, grey spandrel sheets.
I'm not missing the color, but do wish the frontage didn't have the steps up, but as UW mentioned it had to done that way.
 
Okay. In my opinion, the feature corner that became a banal glass and aluminum spandrel wall is more prominent than a few steps. The penthouse about the dark clad section of the block was value engineered as well. The rendering isn't great either but, those decorative elements still amount to a loss.

It's a 3 to 4 star chain hotel. Still better than most.

Looking at the rendering again, I see what you mean about the corner glass feature.
