After years of pause, the beleaguered Place 10 is set to resume construction. It wasn't long ago we wrote about new renderings that were unveiled for the project, and now we are reporting another major update for the project with news of a tower crane being erected.

Recent news and photos show a tower crane being installed at the site on Friday, March 06 confirming rumors that the long idle project was set to resume. For those not familiar with Place 10, the two tower project started out as a pair of 14 storey office buildings and began construction back in 2014. Work was well underway when the project came to a halt due to a slumping economy and office market.

The project was capped off at grade and has been inactive for the years since. The developer of the project, Centron later revisited the project, developing it as residential rather than office. A new development permit was submitted in 2019, and new renderings revealed a new design, done by Calgary based Gibbs Gage Architects  showing two, 35 storey apartment style towers. Shortly after that, word circulated that a resumption of work at Place 10 was imminent.

Centron has confirmed that the project is back ready for construction and work will begin shortly, and with a crane on site it will no doubt be sooner than later.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file, for photo updates and discussion check out the related Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
