Today SkyriseCalgary takes a look at the progress of 933 - 5th ave, HomeSpace's affordable housing project at downtown Calgary's west end. In our last follow up from November of 2019, workers were finishing up the installation a tower crane at site, and the building was preparing for it's vertical ascent.

Over the past four months the project has made some decent headway. Though progress isn't as rapid as a typical highrise project which often rises at a floor per week, 933 -5th ave has risen up to the 6th level. Photos from February 4th show the building at the second level, and int e time since then, progress on the structure is roughly at a floor per two weeks. At that pace the building would be topped off around mid May, but with the recent covid19 situation it may take longer.

Designed by IBI Group, 933 - 5th will eventually be home to 74 new affordable housing units; something that will be a welcome addition to Calgary. aside from the units themselves, the location is solid, being right in the downtown core and short walk from Calgary's LRT corridor. It's also located a skip, hop and a jump from Calgary's bustling Bow River Walk, and just across the river from the Kensington entertainment area.
