Calgary based developer RNDSQR has been known for projects of leading edge styles and creative designs that require thinking outside of the box, but they have unveiled perhaps their most eye popping design yet. Their latest proposal RNDSQR Block, a 12 storey mixed use project in Inglewood, and it's a design that stands out among even their own projects. That says a lot when you consider other RNDSQR developments such as BeaconGROW, RNDSQR Life and Courtyard 33

The proposal calls for a 12 storey, 138 unit development along Inglewood's 9th ave at 12th st SE, which is considered by many as the epicenter of the neighborhood. The parcel is currently used a used car lot, as well as a small two floor building. Designed by Winnipeg based 5468796 Architecture, the building's design is unlike anything we've seen in Calgary. Aside from its standout look, the plans also call for a neighboring heritage building (the CIBC Bank building) to be incorporated int the design.

Along with the residential units, RNDSQR Block will have 12,000 square feet of retail, and 25,000 square feet of office space. There will be 87 parking stalls and 175 bike stalls. The building will also have a rooftop amenity and a terrace, and part of the development includes plans for a rooftop terrace to be added to the heritage building next door.

The project is still in early stages with a land use application expected to be submitted for zoning to be increased in order to support the 12 storey 45 metre height. There is a public engagement session set for Dec 10th for  members of the community interested in getting more information about the project.

With RNDSQR Block in it's early stages, SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
