Just over a month since our last update, and the rapidly rising 500 Block is now just a few floors away from topping off. Soon to reach its final 110-metre height, the 35-storey tower and its 7-storey mid-rise counterpart will soon be home to upwards of 600 residents.
Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and Kirkor Architects Planners for Hines, the 463-unit 500 Block will bring a great deal of height and density to the downtown core. Located at the corner of 4 St SW and 12 Ave SW, and thus in walking distance to the core, Beltline, and East Village, 500 Block will place residents in the heart of the action.
Adjacent as well to Central Memorial Park, and close to numerous local restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and bars, 500 Block will no doubt be a prime address for urban professionals of every stripe. Furthering its allure, 500 Block's common podium level will be home to a contiguous strip of retail with frontage upon two sides.
Busy, urban, and modern, 500 Block represents the changing face of the city, its imminent completion to inject a significant amount of new life into the neighbourhood.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
