Just over two months since our last update, and the 37-storey One Tower has now topped off in downtown Calgary. Developed by Strategic Group, the 370-unit high-rise will eventually be home to upwards of 500 residents, the tall, high-density project to become a distinctive piece of the downtown skyline.
Distinctive as well for its dark, glass and spandrel visage, One Tower stands tall at the corner of 1 St SE and 10 Ave SE. Close thus to Beltline and East Village, One Tower will place residents within easy walking distance to both neighbourhoods, as well as to the downtown core.
Perched atop a two-storey retail podium, One Tower will bring a great deal of urban vibrancy to the area, the increase in local foot traffic to represent a net benefit for the core. Comprising 331,000 sq. ft. of new, residential space, One Tower exemplifies the new face of the city.
Looking up from street level, One Tower appears to be making major progress in terms of cladding - the balconies, as well as the far upper, and podium levels - yet to receive their outer skin. Once complete, One Tower will be a fine addition to the city centre.
