Just over three months since our last update, and Phase One of the multi-tower Curtis Block development has made significant gains. The first two towers have risen above grade, thereby giving the site a truer sense of scale and scope as the project gets underway.

Designed by Arquitectonica and DIALOG for One Properties, the full build-out of the three-tower Curtis Block will eventually encompass 958 units spread across each volume. Topping out at 50 storeys, the tower trio will be quite tall, the development as a whole to eventually become home for upwards of 1,500 residents.

Located along 12 Ave SE between 1 St SE and Macleod Trail, Curtis Block is south of downtown, and roughly equidistant to either Beltline and East Village. Retail will fill out the base of the towers (which will be interconnected), with frontage along multiple sides.

The massive development will go a long way towards filling in the space that exists currently between the aforementioned neighbourhoods, the mix of residential and retail to animate the immediate urban context. Once complete, Curtis Block will be a fine addition to the central city.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
