Two months since our last update, and progress at the Redstone excavation site in Beltline has moved considerably ahead. What was once a pile of earth has transformed into a large, deep, excavation pit, as crews work hard to prepare the site for construction.

Set to rise at the corner of 7 St SW and 14 Ave SW, just a block east of the busy 8th Street corridor, and just two blocks north of the sights and sounds of 17 Ave SW, Redstone is well-situated for urban living. Walkable, convenient to the core, and close to several parks, Redstone will be a prime address within the popular downtown neighbourhood.

Part of a major trend within the district favouring height and density, Amble Ventures' NORR Architects-designed 14-storey, 137-unit, high-rise will go a good way towards this goal. A timely development, considering Beltline's recent population growth, Redstone will be a fine addition to the area.

As for the tower itself, renderings of the project show a significant amount of colour-blocked spandrel, medium-sized windows, and balconies for every unit. Appearing to be raised slightly above grade, the base of the tower may or may not include retail, the tower's entrance(s) to be found at the top of a flight of stairs.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
