Nearly two months since our last update, and progress at the site of Redstone has moved along significantly. Excavation is now well underway, as is the installation of piles, the construction site today a hive of activity.

A large mound of earth has taken centre stage at the build site, its presence (and size) a testament to the amount of dirt that has already been excavated by heavy machinery. Located at 805 14 Ave SW in the Beltline, the 14-strorey, 137-unit, Redstone will be a transformative project for the area, the earthen mound to soon give way to a full-fledged construction site.

The third such high-rise tower to break ground within the Beltline over the last year, the NORR Architects-designed Redstone by Amble Ventures continues a trend towards intensification and height that has come to define the neighbourhood. Owing in large part to the Beltline's steady population growth, and the fact that more and more people are flocking to this popular, walkable, neighbourhood at the periphery of the core, Redstone's arrival is perfectly timed to sell out fast.

As for the tower itself, Redstone will be clad in a mix of white, grey, and dark grey spandrel, with room left over for windows and balconies. Set to rise from a raised platform, Redstone will be a pronounced feature of the local landscape.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
