Nearly three months since our last update, and Anthem Properties' 1134-1160 Memorial Drive in Kensington has now all but reached completion. Cladding is now complete upon the bulk of the five-storey residential mid-rise, the exterior mix of red brick, olive-green- and cedar-coloured panels serving the structure well.
Designed by Rostich Hempell Architects, the traditional material aesthetic of 1134-1160 Memorial Drive works nicely for the area. Located close to Kensington, as of yet still a refuge for older single-family homes, the decision to assemble the facade in such a way serves to integrate the new development into the long-established area.
Viewed in close-up above and below, the detail work on hand here can be easily appreciated. The various materials and tones work well together, the earthy colour palette appropriate given the project's proximity to the tree-lined banks of the Bow.
Soon to welcome home upwards of 150 residents to its 93 suites, the nearly complete 1134-1160 Memorial Drive will bring a significant degree of pedestrian vibrancy to the district. Completion for the as of yet unnamed project is scheduled for September, at which time the development will make a fine addition to Kensington.
SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
