Two months since we last checked in at Marda in South Calgary, and the exterior cladding work has continued to make steady progress. Of note, the large, white, "M-A-R-D-A" signage has now been installed, along with most of the spandrel and wood-grain accents, thereby signalling that exterior work is nearing completion.

Designed by NORR Architects for Strategic Group, the 6-storey, 100-unit, mixed-use, residential development features a mix of exterior cladding materials, including glass, spandrel, and wood. Combining a soft palette of white, grey, charcoal, and dark brown, Marda appears to have taken a cue from the natural landscape of Alberta.

Compared to the rendering above, the finished product appears more or less in line with the original vision. In fact, beyond a few sublte tone changes, the only major alteration is the switch in font colour from black to white upon the main signage.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
