Two months since our last update, and preliminary insulation work has now "wrapped up" as cladding work continues at Marda. Cloaked in white, the 6-storey, 66-unit residential mid-rise now appears - through a tight squint or greasy camera lens - more or less the way it will upon completion.

Indeed, save for some some accent pieces here and there, and one conspicuous logo, the majority white spandrel clad structure now has the roughed in appearance of its future self. Designed by NORR Architects for Strategic Group, the wood-framed, mixed-use Marda will one day soon welcome home upwards of 100 new residents to Marda Loop.

Set to include 5 retail bays totaling 9,000 square feet, Marda's completion will represent a boon for the area, its commercial floor space to inject a great deal of urban vibrancy into the neighbourhood. Close to the shops and restaurants of 33 Ave SW, and situated along two bus routes, Marda will be a prime address for those looking for an urban retreat in the midst of suburban South Calgary.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
