The last time we visited 500 Block in Calgary's Beltline was at the end of February, when construction had progressed to a point slightly above grade. Workers had just carried on through the coldest Calgary February in 50 years, and the 35-storey, 463-unit, building was only just above grade and headed skyward.

The past three months have seen rapid progress, with the 7 floor podium now topped out, and the tower portion now up to the 10th floor. Along with the rapid progression in height, the project achieved another milestone with the commencement of its cladding installation.

Recent photos show pieces of newly-installed cladding on the podium. Tinted vision glass combined with charcoal-coloured spandrel glass and light-grey aluminum trim have been installed in some sections of the 4th St face of the podium.

The same combination of materials will be used on the tower portion as well. The podium will also see wood-coloured fibre cement panels installed. White trim will be used on the balconies of both the podium and tower.

With plenty of changes still to come, SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
