Only a few weeks since our last update, and progress at One Tower has continued unabated. The intervening weeks have seen the installation of the first 3 or 4 floors of cladding and glazing work completed just above the podium base, thereby providing an early glimpse of the finished product.

The 37-storey, 122-metre, residential high-rise by Strategic Group will contain 370 units, the development to represent an influx of upwards of 500 new residents into the core. Located at 1 St SE and 10 Ave SE, south of downtown, and in-between Beltline and East Village, One Tower will serve to form a land bridge of sorts between three distinct areas.

As for the cladding and glazing work now underway, it appears that a pleasing balance of spandrel-to-glass has been achieved, the units to benefit greatly from an abundance of natural light. Aesthetically as well, the dark tones at play here, along with the fact that the spandrel in no way overpowers the glass, helps give the tower a nice, modern vibe.

The mixed-use structure will feature a large, multi-storey, retail podium at grade with sizeable frontages at street level. Once complete, One Tower will be a prime address for those looking for downtown living within the heart of the city.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
