Coming soon to the corner of 9th and 9th in Inglewood, the mixed-use South Bank development promises to inject a great deal of urban density and street life into one of Calgary's oldest neighbourhoods. Topped off and ready for cladding, it will not be long now until the 5-storey development by Opus and Kasian begins to truly take shape.

South Bank will consist of 69 rental apartments - split into seven townhomes, 25 two-bedroom units, and 37 one-bedroom units - placed atop a single floor of street-facing retail comprising 12,632 square feet of commercial space. The mix will suit the neighbourhood well, the development replacing a small art supplies shop, a parking lot, and a small collection of derelict structures.

Below-grade parking will have room for 84 cars, in addition to 11 surface spaces, thereby providing more than enough parking for residents and shoppers alike. For those on foot, the project's location within the heart of the district, and its proximity to downtown, make this an ideal address for walkability and city living.

Scheduled to open by Fall 2019, South Bank will more than likely be a welcome addition to the area. Joined by a handful of other similar-sized projects, South Bank is representative of the changing face of Inglewood, and the inner city generally.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
