Three weeks since we last looked at the excavation work now underway at 11th + 11th, and progress has been moving steadily along. After breaking up the cold ground just below the surface, excavators have now burrowed well below grade, with a drilling rig now on site as work continues.

Set to rise at the corner of 11th St SW and 11 Ave SW, the aptly named high-rise development by Ramsay Worden Architects will eventually be home to nearly 500 residents spread across 369 units. Situated thus in-between Beltline and the Downtown West End, the 44-storey residential tower will place owners within easy proximity of numerous shops, restaurants, and bars, to say nothing of the many local transit connections.

Walking distance as well to the Bow River and downtown core, 11th + 11th will more than likely be a popular address among those looking for a central location. The podium base of the tower will further enhance the local offerings, coming as it will with a strip of ground floor retail.

Once complete, 11th + 11th will be a fine addition to the core, its steel and glass façade representative of the modern redevelopment now found within every corner of the city. Moreover, the addition of a green roof upon the podium will exist as yet another signal of Calgary's recent shift towards sustainability and innovation.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
