Six weeks since our last update, and progress at the build site for 11th + 11th has been moving along nicely. Excavation has formally begun, as signified by the breaking up of the local permafrost, followed by digging down below grade.

Located at the corner of 11 St SW and 11 Ave SW, the aptly named high-rise development by Ramsay Worden Architects is on target to deliver upwards of 500 residents to the area between Beltline and the Downtown West End. Spread across 44 storeys, the 369 units will pack a hefty punch of high-density living into an already bustling neighbourhood, close to numerous shops, restaurants, bars, and several transit lines.

Close as well to the banks of the Bow River and downtown core, 11th + 11th will be a prime address for those looking to live within the heart of the action. Moreover, having replaced a nondescript commercial building, the new condo tower represents the changing face of the city.

The finished product will feature a glass-clad high-rise which will meet the ground with a large retail podium facing onto 11 Ave SW. The roof of the podium will be landscaped with a green roof compete with grass and trees, while the streetscape down below will be remade with a row of potted trees and new lampposts.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
