Two months since we last checked in at the site of The Hat in East Village, and progress has been moving along well. The 28-storey, 221-unit rental tower by Cidex Group and NORR Architects has continued to take shape following the recent removal of its crane.

Detail work has continued on the podium level (below), as the insulation membranes are applied ahead of final cladding and glazing work. The multi-level podium will soon house a mix of uses, including the lobby and main entranceway, just outside of which a children's playground and new landscaping will be built.

Located at 5 St SE and 7 Ave SW in East Village, The Hat will place its future 300 residents at the centre of the bustling new neighbourhood. Close to several area attractions, including Studio Bell and the New Central Library, The Hat will be a prime address for those looking to live in the heart of the action.

While it will yet be some time before the public realm improvements take shape, it is more than likely that they will represent a major boost for the area.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
