Ten weeks since our last update, and progress at the Curtis Block site in the Beltline has been moving along nicely. Excavation work has begun in earnest, with crews now busy at the task of digging down below grade. Located along 12 Ave SE between 1 St SE and Macleod Trail, the three-tower Curtis Block development by One Properties, Arquitectonica, and DIALOG, will be built in two phases.

The first phase will consist of two towers (36 and 32 floors) which will be situated at the north end of the site. The second phase will see the final tower built at the south end with frontage onto 13 Ave SE.

Phase One will constitute 628 units, Phase Two to add 330 more, for a grand total of 958. Together, the three towers will eventually come to be a dominant presence within the neighbourhood, Curtis Block on target to welcome upwards of 1,500 new inhabitants.

Close to transit, downtown, East Village, and of course the many local delights of the Beltline, Curtis Block will be a popular address for those looking for the best the city has to offer. Furthermore, for those looking to stay close to home, the entire development will meet the street with a large, interconnected retail podium, which will be populated with further shops, restaurants, and other services.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
